St Louis CITY2 secured the number one seed in the Western Conference and will host four seed North Texas SC in the MLS Next Pro Western Conference Semifinals on Sunday at Ralph Korte Stadium on the campus of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Kickoff is set for Sunday, September 25 at 6:30 p.m. CT with coverage via enhanced broadcasts on mlsnextpro.com.
“We’ve made history…it is the first ever MLS NEXT Pro season and STL CITY2 – without a first team – clinched the top seed in Western Conference for the regular season. It’s a testament to the strength of the CITY program,” said Lutz Pfannenstiel, St. Louis CITY SC Sporting Director. “The way the fans showed up week after week to cheer us on…it really pushed us to do our best and make a big impression as a club before we kick off in MLS in 2023.”

CITY2, in their first year of existence, finished first overall in the regular season in the Western Conference at 15-6-3 and second overall in MLS Next Pro behind Columbus Crew SC (16-3-5). CITY2 tallied the second most wins in the league (15), tied for second most points (49), the most road wins (8), third most goals for (51), seventh least goals allowed (34), tied for third best goal differential (17), tied for sixth most clean sheets (7) while seeing 16 different goal scorers.
