St Louis CITY2 heads to the west coast to face Ventura County FC on Sunday, April 13 at 7:00 p.m. CT at William Rolland Stadium. The match will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app. CITY2 will have a bye week after Sunday’s match and will pick things back up on April 26 against Tacoma Defiance on the road.
CITY2 suffered their first loss of the season last Sunday, falling 1-0 to Colorado Rapids 2. St Louis had plenty of chances in the first half but conceded their first goal of the season to Rapids 2 in the 45th minute. Both teams had players receive red cards in the second half and despite dominating Colorado with 68% possession and 21 shots, CITY2 fell 1-0 after 90 minutes.
CITY2 were undefeated in their previous four matches and tallied a 405-minute shutout streak against their opponents. After this weekend's results across MLS NEXT Pro, CITY2 remains in first place in the league and Western Conference with 11 points.
St Louis holds a 2-0-2 overall record against Ventura County FC, scoring nine goals against them in three previous matchups. In their most recent matchup in September 2024, Brendan McSorley notched two goals marking his first professional brace. Sunday’s clash will be the first of two meetings for the sides with the final meeting occurring on July 16 at Energizer Park.
Ventura County is 3-1-0 this season and began their season with a 3-2 victory over Tacoma Defiance at home. VCFC fell 3-1 to LAFC on the road and earned a 1-0 win against Houston Dynamo 2 at home. Last Sunday, Ventura County picked up a 2-1 win against Real Monarchs away and currently sit in third place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings with nine points. Forward Luis Müller has tallied three goals thus far and is tied for second in the league with goals scored.
