Due to a portion of Centene Stadium’s internal power distribution system being adversely affected by a construction project unrelated to the stadium, the CITY2 MLSNEXT Pro match originally scheduled for Sunday at 6 pm at Centene Stadium is being moved to SIUE.
“Today we confirmed we will not be able to restore full power to the stadium on Sunday,” said Joe Abernathy, St. Louis CITY’s Vice President of Stadium Operations. “We are currently working with our stadium construction and operation partners to assess the extent of the issue and better understand the timeline for when we’ll be able to restore full power to the entire stadium.”
“We are very sad about not being able to showcase the new stadium on Sunday,” said St. Louis CITY SC President and CEO Carolyn Kindle. “We know our fans, players, and staff will be disappointed about not having this preview event, but once we are back up and running, we are looking forward to making the first match in our new home the best fan experience possible.”
The St. Louis CITY2 match against Sporting KC II will be free and open to the public at 6 PM at Ralph Korte Stadium, located at 3345 Stadium Drive, Edwardsville, IL on the SIU Edwardsville campus.
