CITY2 aiming to make it two wins in two games against rivals Sporting KC II
After defeating Chicago Fire II in convincing fashion, St Louis CITY2 will look to build on their five-match unbeaten streak on Friday when they face cross-state rivals Sporting KC II. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST at Rock Chalk Park and can be seen live on mlsnextpro.com.
CITY2 put five past Chicago Fire II last weekend to secure their seventh win of the season, and to round out the three-match week with eight points. Sergio Rivas and Ben Di Rosa grabbed their first professional goals in the 5-0 rout, while AJ Palazzolo, Josh Dolling, and Célio Pompeu all found the back of the net to add to their season tally. With the shutout, Ian McGrane recorded his second clean sheet of his CITY2 career.
Sporting KC II enter the match week sitting in seventh position in the Western Conference, seven points behind CITY2, who are currently in third. Sporting KC II have only managed to earn four from a possible 15 points at home, with CITY2 responsible for one of their home defeats, after beating the Kansas team 1-0 back in April. Sporting KC II are coming off a huge 1-0 win against Houston Dynamo 2, off the back of an impressive showing from goalkeeper John Pulskamp who made six saves to record his first clean sheet of the season.
CITY2 forward Karson Gibbs, who started his third match of the season against Chicago was in fine passing form with the attacker recording two assists. With his impressive output last game, Gibbs now boasts a 0.87 assist per 90 minutes ratio, the best on the CITY2 team.
