St. Louis CITY SC is set to host the San Jose Earthquakes this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. CT at CITYPARK. Fans can catch the action live on MLS Season Pass via the Apple TV app, while radio coverage will be available on KYKY Y98.1 FM (English) and KXOK 102.9 FM (Spanish).
CITY SC will be eager to extend their strong record against the Earthquakes, having secured positive results in their previous meetings. Last season, St. Louis remained undefeated against San Jose which includes a 3-0 victory at CITYPARK. In the away fixture, CITY SC earned an impressive 2-1 win with forward Sam Adeniran scoring a brace to secure the three points.
In their last match against Vancouver Whitecaps, Njabulo Blom, Eduard Löwen and Nökkvi Thórisson all got on the scoresheet in a 4-3 loss on the road. Blom and Thórisson both notched their first goals of the season, while Löwen continued his strong form in MLS with his second goal this season. Across 40 matches in regular season play, Löwen has recorded 25 goal contributions (8 goals and 17 assists).
Missouri native John Klein also made his first ever MLS start and has now appeared in six games for St. Louis CITY SC. Chris Durkin and Indiana Vassilev also had notable contributions, with both players recording an assist against the Whitecaps.
St. Louis CITY SC has a 14-7-7 record at CITYPARK and has demonstrated their attacking prowess by scoring multiple goals in each of their 14 victories. This season, they have recorded a 3-3-5 record at home and have earned four clean sheets in that span.
CITY SC will be led by Technical Director John Hackworth, who will assume the title of interim head coach, after the club parted ways with Bradley Carnell. Hackworth has close to 30 years of coaching experience at various levels, including head coaching positions with the Philadelphia Union and the USL’s Louisville City FC.
San Jose Earthquakes, currently with a 3-15-2 record, will be aiming to bounce back from recent setbacks, having struggled in their away fixtures this season with a 1-8-1 record. San Jose will also have an interim manager in charge with Ian Russell at the helm, following the dismissal of Luchi Gonzalez.
