St. Louis CITY SC Midfielder Indiana Vassilev Called Into USMNT Winter Camp
Vassilev earns his first-ever national team call up
Vassilev began his professional career with Aston Villa, making his debut in England’s FA Cup in 2020 at 18-years-old. Following his first cap with Villa in the FA Cup, he made four appearances during the 2019-20 Premier League season. Vassilev was then loaned to both Burton Albion (League One) and Cheltenham Town (League Two) during the 2020-21 season, accumulating 24 appearances between the two squads.
Following his stint in England, Vassilev recently spent the 2021 and 2022 MLS seasons with Inter Miami CF. The Savannah, Georgia native appeared in 45 of 48 regular season matches and tallied five goals.
For country, Vassilev has risen within the U.S. Youth National team from the Under-16 team through the Under-20 squad. The midfielder earned his first youth national team cap at 15-years-old with the U-16 team during an international friendly and made a total of eight appearances. Vassilev has made a total of 33 appearances with five goals at the U.S. Youth International level, including appearances at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
