Seth Antwi, Ryan Becher, Cam Cilley, Sam Gomez, Gabriel Mikina and Jay Reid are new additions to the team
With St Louis CITY2 continuing its preseason training ahead of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season, the club is revealing its initial team roster which includes six new signings.
“As a coaching staff, we couldn’t be more thrilled about the talented players we have on our roster and are looking forward to helping them develop into the best versions of themselves,” said Murphy. “This season is about using the lessons we learned last year to grow and maintain the competitive edge that CITY2 has cultivated over the past two seasons.”
CITY2’s all-time leading goal scorer John Klein will look to add to his total this season, while returning midfielder Wan Kuzain will aim to log a third straight campaign with ten or more goal contributions.
The team’s emphasis on developing young players will also be at the fore this season, as five new CITY SC Academy products are making the move to CITY2: forward Jackson Delkus, goalkeeper Andrew Kohlberg, midfielders Mikey Lay and Carson Locker and defender Kai Jaeger. They add to the impressive crop of young players who featured for the team last season, including forward Dida Armstrong, midfielder Aaron Heard and Mykhi Joyner who all played extended minutes last season.
CITY2 will look to build on a 2023 season in which it reeled off a team-record ten-game unbeaten streak to close out the regular season and clinched a second-consecutive postseason berth.
