St Louis CITY2 signs defender Oscar Benitez to an MLS NEXT Pro contract through the end of the 2024 season. The Colombian joins the club following an illustrious youth career in Brazil with RB Bragantino II.
“Oscar has the defensive instincts and characteristics necessary to compete at a very high level and thrive within our game model,” said CITY2 Head Coach Bobby Murphy. “We are all very excited to watch his progression throughout the season.”
Benitez's career began at the German Academy in Colombia, known for training some of the best youth talent in the country. Most recently, Benitez fortified his skills playing for RB Bragantino's second team and U-20 team in Brazil. Benitez played 32 games with the under-20 team and scored four goals. The Cisneros Buenaventura native, Colombia, made three appearances with RB Bragantino II.
