St Louis CITY2 defeated Austin FC II 3-2 at CITYPARK on Monday night. ATX opened the scoring early in the first half with a strike from Micah Burton. Mykhi Joyner responded with a penalty kick goal to even the score at 1-1. Austin FC II’s Diego Abarca scored in the 28th minute before the first half ended. After halftime, Mykhi Joyner notched another penalty kick in the 73rd minute to level the score. Brendan McSorley scored the game-winner in the 89th minute to secure the 3-2 comeback win for CITY2 and clinch a playoff berth. Both Joyner and McSorley have scored in two consecutive matches for CITY2. St Louis will play against Colorado Rapids 2 in Denver next Sunday, September 8.
