St. Louis CITY SC will hit the road to face San Jose Earthquakes at PayPal Park on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 pm CT and can be watched live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Fans can also listen via radio on KYKY 98.1 FM (English) and on KXOK 102.9 FM (Spanish).
St. Louis is undefeated in its three previous meetings against San Jose, winning 3-0 and 2-1 last season before earning a 2-0 win at CITYPARK this season. The win at CITYPARK marked the first for interim head coach John Hackworth for St. Louis. In that match, Eduard Löwen found the net along with Hosei Kijima who scored his first career MLS goal. Indiana Vassilev picked up the assist for both goals. The match was also the last time St. Louis recorded a shutout across all competitions.
St. Louis saw their three-match unbeaten streak snapped against Minnesota United at CITYPARK last Saturday. Cedric Teuchert scored CITY SC’s lone goal in the match. The goal was Teuchert’s third MLS goal and his fifth in nine matches across all competitions since joining St. Louis.
Either Teuchert, Eduard Löwen, Marcel Hartel or Simon Becher have recorded a goal or assist in the last eight matches for CITY SC. In that span, the four players have combined for 14 goals and nine assists. St. Louis scored 17 goals during that stretch.
CITY SC has 1-1-3 away record against teams in California and will look to add their first road win of the season to that total.
San Jose, who has been officially eliminated from the playoffs, have a 5-21-3 record. Ten of those losses have come at home. The Earthquakes have only recorded one victory in their last five home matches which came against Chicago back in July.
