St. Louis CITY SC returns to CITYPARK on Sunday to face Western Conference leaders LA Galaxy. The match will kick off at 1:45pm and will be streamed for free live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and FOX. Fans can also follow via radio on KYKY (English) and on KXOK 102.9 FM (Spanish).

The upcoming match will mark the fourth meeting between CITY SC and the Galaxy, with both teams searching for the first win of the series (0-0-3 record). When the two teams faced each other this season, St. Louis rallied from behind to earn a point in a 3-3 thriller at Dignity Health Sports Park. Tomáš Ostrák’s first goal of the season along with Joakim Nilsson’s first career MLS goal helped CITY SC secure the road draw.

Last season, CITY SC and LA Galaxy tied 1-1 at CITYPARK and 2-2 at Dignity Health Sports Park. St. Louis CITY SC has a 15-8-7 record at CITYPARK.

The match will also feature a reunion between two former Borussia Dortmund players, Roman Bürki and Marco Reus. Bürki and Reus played together in Dortmund for 7 seasons and shared the pitch together in 142 matches.

Another familiar face will be LA Galaxy’s left back John Nelson who was a member of CITY SC’s inaugural roster in 2023. Nelson made 18 appearances and recorded an assist for St. Louis.

In their last match, St. Louis CITY SC earned a tie on the road following a 4-4 thriller with Portland Timbers last Saturday. For the second time in St. Louis CITY SC history, four different players (Simon Becher, Cedric Teuchert, Eduard Löwen and Nökkvi Thórisson) scored a goal in a single match.

The goals were Becher’s and Teuchert’s first MLS goals for St. Louis. Teuchert also recorded his first MLS assist. Löwen has recorded five goal contributions (two goals, three assists) in his last four matches across all competitions while Thórisson scored his fourth MLS goal of the season which is tied for second on the team.

Marcel Hartel recorded three assists in the match, joining Löwen as the only players to record three assists in a single match for CITY SC. Hartel became the second player in MLS history to record three assists in their regular season debut joining Carlos Hermosillo, who set up three goals in his debut for the LA Galaxy on June 7, 1998. Hartel was selected on the Team of the Matchday squad, the first of his MLS career.

The Galaxy currently leads the Western Conference with 54 points and comes into the match after a 2-0 win against Atlanta United. LA Galaxy has lost two of their last three away games and boasts a road record of 5-4-4.
