St. Louis CITY SC looks to make it six wins in six games when they face Minnesota United FC at CITYPARK on Saturday, April 1. The match is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CST and will be televised on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and broadcasted by our radio partners on KYKY Y98.1 FM (English) and KXOK 102.9 FM (Spanish).

In their last match, St. Louis CITY SC defeated Real Salt Lake 4-0 to improve their record to a perfect 5-0-0. CITY SC goalkeeper and captain Roman Bürki pulled off an incredible save to keep the score level just before halftime and made eight saves during the match to record his second straight MLS clean sheet of the season. Two minutes into the second half Niko Gioacchini broke the deadlock after capitalizing on a corner kick from Indiana Vassilev. The goal was followed by a brace from João Klauss before Rasmus Alm wrapped up the scoring in the 76th minute.

With the victory, CITY SC, which already owned the best start by an expansion club in league history, became the second team in MLS history (post-shootout era) to win each of their first five games of a season, joining 2012 Sporting Kansas City.

CITY SC has scored multiple goals in each of their first five matches and boast a league-high 15 goals this season, which are tied for the most in MLS history through the first five games of a season, joining the 2019 and 2020 LAFC squads. With Alm’s goal over the weekend, CITY SC have seen eight different goal scorers so far this season.

Forwards Klauss and Gioacchini have formed a potent partnership so far this season. The pair have combined for seven goals and two assists and with their goals last match, they have both scored a goal in the same match for the second straight game this season.

Klauss, whose volleyed goal against Real Salt Lake was voted Goal of the Matchday, has scored five goals so far this season, which trails Seattle’s Jordan Morris who leads the goalscoring charts with seven goals. The Brazilian forward has at least one goal contribution in all five matches this season, and with a goal or an assist, Klauss would make it the 15th different instance in MLS history that a player recorded a goal contribution in their first six games.

CITY SC Designated Player and midfielder Eduard Löwen recorded his fourth assist of the season after providing the pass for the fourth goal of the night against Real Salt Lake. Löwen is tied for the most assists in MLS this season with Atlanta United’s Thiago Almada, Seattle’s Léo Chú, Philadelphia’s Daniel Gazdag and Columbus’ Alexandru Matan.

St. Louis will look to make it six wins in six games but will have to go through a tough Minnesota United team who are currently unbeaten this season. The Loons recorded away wins at FC Dallas and Colorado Rapids and with a win at CITYPARK, could match their best-ever start to a season through five games. Minnesota United has also won four of its last six matches against expansion teams and in its four meetings with MLS newcomers since the start of the 2020 season, the Loons have allowed just one goal.
