CITY SC vs LA Galaxy

St. Louis is undefeated in four matches against the Galaxy (1-0-3 record), and has the lone win in the series after beating the Galaxy at home last season. Cedric Teuchert and Marcel Hartel scored the goals in that game. The goal was Hartel’s first in MLS. In the away fixture at Dignity Health Sports Park last season, St. Louis rallied from behind to earn a point in a 3-3 thriller. Tomáš Ostrák’s first goal of the season along with Joakim Nilsson’s first career MLS goal helped CITY SC secure the point. St. Louis is the only Western Conference team LA Galaxy has not defeated in the last two years (minimum two meetings).

A Look at the Last Match

St. Louis earned a point on the road against San Diego last weekend, remaining unbeaten in their first two matches. The 0-0 draw meant CITY SC goalkeeper Roman BĂĽrki recorded consecutive shutouts to the start the season for the first time since joining St. Louis. CITY SC earned back-to-back clean sheets for the fourth time in club history (the other three being from March 18-25, 2023, July 1-8, 2023, and April 6-14, 2024). Defender Henry Kessler was voted as the man-of-the-match for his defensive performance against SDFC. Per Opta, Kessler led all players in defensive actions (interceptions, blocks, tackles, clearances) with 15. St. Louis is the first team to have not conceded a goal and only one shot on goal over their first two games of any season in MLS.

Scouting LA Galaxy

The reigning MLS Cup champions have had a tough start to the 2025 campaign, failing to pick up a point in all three of their competitive matches to start the season. The LA Galaxy lost 2-0 in their home opener against San Diego, fell on the road to Vancouver 2-1 last weekend and were edged 1-0 by Club Sport Herediano in CONCACAF Champions Cup play on Wednesday night. CITY SC will aim to secure their first victory of the season, while the Galaxy will look to avoid becoming the first reigning champions to lose their first three opening matches of the regular season.
