St. Louis CITY SC Homegrown player Caden Glover selected to MLS NEXT All-Star Roster; U-15 Head Coach Anthony Wallace will lead the MLS NEXT West Squad
St. Louis CITY SC forward Caden Glover was named to the 2023 MLS NEXT All-Star Game presented by Allstate. Glover will be joined by St. Louis CITY SC’s academy coach Anthony Wallace who will be the head coach of the MLS NEXT West squad.
Glover along with 43 other players were selected and split into two teams by MLS NEXT personnel following the conclusion of the 2023 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs and Showcase. The two rosters will compete in an East vs. West format at the Naval Academy’s Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis, Md. on Wednesday, July 19 at 9:30 a.m. CT. The match will be streamed live from MLS NEXT’s (@mlsnext) TikTok account with multiple access points in the app.
After becoming St. Louis CITY SC’s first homegrown signing earlier this year, Glover earned his first professional cap with CITY2 at North Texas SC, coming off the bench and playing 22 minutes. Glover became the first player born in 2007 to make their MLS debut, featuring in St. Louis' 1-0 loss to Chicago, on May 13. Glover scored his first professional goal for St Louis CITY2 against Sporting KC II on May 21 and notched his second against Tacoma Defiance in a 2-0 win.
Wallace, a former U.S. Men’s National Team defender will lead the MLS NEXT West team. Prior to joining St. Louis CITY SC academy, Wallace spent time with various teams in Washington including Hawks SC, Eastern Washington Surf SC, and Washington State University Women’s Soccer. Wallace had an 11-year professional career and saw MLS action for FC Dallas, the Colorado Rapids, and the New York Red Bulls.
Glover is the second St. Louis CITY SC player to be selected for the MLS NEXT All-Star Game joining Fritz Volmar who made the inaugural roster last year. Wallace is the first St. Louis CITY SC academy coach to be selected as head coach for the MLS NEXT All-Star Game.
