The St. Louis CITY SC Academy U-15s, U-16s and U-17s were all in action over the weekend, as each team hit the road and squared off against FC United Soccer Club on Saturday, March 16. With an overall record of 33-12-7 in regular season play this season coming into the weekend, the three teams continued their strong run of form, posting a 2-1-0 record and scoring nine goals in their latest round of action.
U-15s hits six past FC United
The boys returned to their winning ways in dramatic fashion over the weekend, shutting down the FC United U-15s while putting together an offensive masterclass. Forwards Jovanni Giffin and Brendan McCrory each earned a brace, and midfielders Cruz Gonzalez and Jack Silverman both each also found the back of the net in the 6-0 win. Giffin (2), McCrory, Gonzalez and Chianozie Nwankwo all recorded assists in the match as well.
U-16s suffer first loss since November
Looking to extend their unbeaten streak to four, the U-16s battled in a tough matchup against FC United. Forward Jojo Adamitis got the team on the board, but it wasn’t quite enough as the hosts netted three goals of their own to hand the U-16s just their second loss of the regular season.
U-17s prevail in tight matchup
The U-17s got back in the win column over the weekend, edging home side FC United 2-1. Forwards Chidube Nwankwo and Stone Marion accounted for the boys’ two goals in the contest, with defender Shane Farrow setting up Nwankwo for his strike.
What’s Next?
The U-17s return to action with a midweek duel against local side St. Louis Scott Gallagher, and then the boys will welcome the Indy Eleven U-17s to town for a weekend showdown. Both the U-15s and U-16s will host their respective counterparts from Indy Eleven this weekend as well, with the U-15 team also playing away against Midwest United the following day.
