Academy Recap: September 21 and 22

St. Louis CITY SC U-15, U-16 and U-19s academy teams opened the weekend facing off against Columbus Crew’s academy teams at home. The U-15 and U-16s fell 4-2 and 2-1 respectively while the U-19s earned the 3-2 victory. On Sunday, all four academy teams were in action against Michigan Wolves as the U-14 and U-15s both won, and the U-16 and U-19 teams dropped their matches.

U-14s pick up another win

After having a successful weekend last Sunday, September 15 with a 3-0 win over Vardar which saw Vedad Kovac earn a brace and Emmett Wilson score, the U-14s picked up a 2-1 win over Michigan Wolves on Sunday morning.

U-15s earn 2-0 win against Michigan Wolves

The U-15s opened the weekend on Saturday as they fell 4-2 against Columbus Crew but the team redeemed itself with a 2-0 shutout against Michigan Wolves on Sunday morning. An own goal and a strike from Bennett Hayden helped the team earn the victory. Maddox Slezak earned his second shutout of the season.

U-16s drop close matches to Columbus Crew and Michigan Wolves

The U-16s dropped a close 2-1 match to Columbus Crew on Saturday morning as Jovanni Griffin picked up the lone goal for CITY. On Sunday morning the U-16s played against Michigan Wolves and fell 3-2 as Matteo Hayes and Kaden Donigan both scored.

U-19s earn 3-2 victory over Columbus Crew

On Saturday afternoon the U-19s earned a 3-2 victory over Columbus Crew with Lorenzo Cornelius, Chidube Nwankwo, and Jojo Adamitis scoring. The following day, the U-19s fell 2-1 in a tight match against Michigan Wolves which saw Carson Locker score.

What’s Next?

The U-15, U-16 and U-19 squads will take on Minnesota United FC academy teams on Saturday, September 28. Then, on Sunday, September 29 all four teams will play against Indy Eleven.
