CITY SC to Host Charlotte FC in First MLS Match at CITYPARK on March 4

Kicking off its historic 34-match inaugural MLS season against Austin FC at Q2 Stadium on Saturday, February 25, St. Louis CITY SC will begin play as the league’s 29th team and the 14th team in the Western Conference. CITY SC’s 2023 regular season schedule features the home opener at CITYPARK on March 4 against Charlotte, three nationally televised matches on FOX networks, seven Eastern Conference teams and three matches against Sporting KC.

“I truly believe next year will be epic for St. Louis with our inaugural Major League Soccer season providing a platform to showcase our city to soccer fans across the US, and beyond,” said St. Louis CITY SC President and CEO Carolyn Kindle. “We look forward to hosting some amazing soccer matches at CITYPARK, including our first home game against Charlotte on March 4th and kicking off what will be one of the biggest rivalries for our team and our fans when we play Sporting KC at CITYPARK on May 20th.”

After its record-setting season ticket deposit campaign, St. Louis’ full 34-match schedule, released today by Major League Soccer, can finally be seen here. A limited number of single match tickets will be available as part of a special pre-sale event for members of the club’s myCITY+ program in late January, before all remaining single-match tickets go on sale to the general public on February 2.

CITY SC’s 2023 schedule will feature 27 total matches against its 13 Western Conference rivals (one home and one road against each Western Conference opponent) with Sporting KC appearing three times on the schedule. CITY SC’s seven-game Eastern Conference side of the schedule includes a home match against Miami in July and road trips to Chicago and Nashville. With matches against a number of teams located in the Midwest, CITY SC fans can expect a number of heated rivalries to develop over the course of the club’s inaugural season.

“It is exciting to finally see our first schedule laid out for the inaugural season,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “The build up to 2023 has been amazing, with our CITY2 team and Academy teams having incredible results. We hope we can carry the same type of success into Major League Soccer.”

Following its season opener on the road at Austin, St. Louis will kick off its 17-game MLS regular season home slate against Charlotte FC on Saturday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. CT. Three of CITY SC’s home matches will be featured on national TV, kicking off with a MLS Rivalry Week matchup against Sporting KC on FS1 on Saturday, May 20. CITY SC will be on FS1 again against Austin on Sunday, August 20 and on FOX on Sunday, June 11 against LA Galaxy. CITY SC’s bye weekend is October 7, and the 2023 MLS regular season will conclude on Decision Day, October 21, when CITY SC hosts Seattle.

Every CITY SC match will be broadcast live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. MLS Season Pass will be home to the most expansive and accessible programming lineup ever for MLS fans, including all MLS and Leagues Cup matches, as well as hundreds of MLS NEXT Pro and MLS NEXT games during the season.
