St Louis CITY2 signed 20-year-old Mexican American defender Jaziel Orozco to an MLS NEXT Pro contract for the 2025 season, with a club option for 2026. Orozco brings a wealth of experience from Major League Soccer, USL Championship, Liga MX, and Northern Ireland, having previously played for Real Salt Lake, Real Monarchs, Santos Laguna, and Larne FC.
“Jaziel is a composed defender with excellent game awareness and a fearless approach to defending,” said David Critchley, Head Coach of St Louis CITY2. “He possesses all the qualities we value bravery, tactical intelligence, and technical ability. His experience at both the domestic and international level will bring a strong, competitive edge to our team as we continue to build toward success.”
Orozco began his professional career with Real Monarchs in 2021, making his debut in the USL Championship on May 8, 2021, against San Antonio FC. His strong performances earned him a homegrown contract with Real Salt Lake, where he made his MLS debut in March 2022 at just 18 years old. Orozco made three starts in four appearances with RSL in MLS.
The defender gained valuable experience through loan stints with Santos Laguna in Liga MX and Larne FC in Northern Ireland. Throughout his young career, Orozco has accumulated 83 professional appearances.
