The “Spirit Kit” will be worn throughout 2023 season
St. Louis CITY SC, the newest club in Major League Soccer, has revealed its inaugural away kit that will be worn when the club competes on the road during the 2023 season. The “Spirit Kit” was designed in collaboration with adidas and is inspired by the metallic and modern design of CITYPARK, the St. Louis region’s new home for MLS soccer.
This launch follows the release of CITY SC's inaugural home kit in late 2022, which set new league records for both preorders and sales.
“As with our home kit, our Spirit Kit is full of symbolism, with numerous nods to our club, our stadium, our fans and our city,” said Lee Broughton, St. Louis CITY SC’s Chief Brand Architect. “This jersey is a visual representation of ‘Our CITY, Our Spirit,’ and reminds our players as they’re on the road of their new STL roots and the unwavering support they always have here.”
The Spirit Kit is a celebration of CITYPARK and the community who helped build it. A visual representation of CITY SC’s new home, the jersey brings a piece of CITYPARK to every MLS city the club visits this season. The Arch Gray color and vertical stripes symbolize the steel beams that shape the stadium and are a tribute to CITY SC’s dedicated CITY Founders, who have supported the club since its inception.
The jersey features the club’s signature CITY Red accents and a jock tag that is an aerial depiction of the stadium’s iconic and accessible design – a reminder of the community that is woven into the fabric of CITY SC. The jersey’s back-of-neck signoff, shaped like the keystone piece of America’s tallest monument, the Gateway Arch, represents CITY Founders having the club’s back since day one.
The Spirit Kit also features branding of the club’s STLMade founding partners, including Purina as the lead, front-of-jersey sponsor and BJC HealthCare as the secondary sleeve. The jersey is made with 100% recycled materials and includes an Apple TV sleeve patch to mark the new, 10-year partnership between MLS and Apple.
