After a record-setting match that saw St. Louis CITY SC Homegrown Mykhi Joyner score four goals against Portland Timbers2, the forward was named MLS NEXT Pro’s Player of the Month for May.
In back-to-back matches with St Louis CITY2, Joyner tallied six goals which included a brace against Minnesota United FC 2 and became the first player in club history to score four goals in a single match during CITY2’s 6-3 win over Portland Timbers2. Joyner is now the fifth player all time in MLS NEXT Pro history to record four goals in a single match.
Joyner has helped CITY2 to a 7-4-1 record, as they sit in second place in MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings with 23 points. The team is on a three-game winning streak and won three of their four matches in May. His outstanding performance earned him a national team call-up with the U.S. U-19 MNT in June. The forward was also recently named MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchweek 11 and earned MLS NEXT Pro Goal of the Week honors as well.
Joyner and St Louis CITY2 will travel to the University of Denver Soccer Stadium to take on Colorado Rapids 2 next Sunday, June 15 at 7:00 p.m. CT on mlsnextpro.com.
