2024 eMLS Play to Begin in February
After a successful 2023 eMLS season, St. Louis CITY SC has re-signed 2023 eMLS Cup Champion Niklas “NR7” Raseck for the 2024 competitive season.
“Niklas has proved he is a force to be reckoned with on the virtual pitch, taking home the eMLS Cup trophy in his very first year representing St. Louis CITY SC and playing in the eMLS,” said Pete Wood, St. Louis CITY SC’s Vice President of Content. “Niklas has ambition to make an impact on the global stage with St. Louis, and we’re thrilled to have him back for 2024.”
Raseck is one of the most consistent FIFA players in the world and originally signed with St. Louis CITY SC in late 2022, becoming the first European FIFA player signed to an MLS club. At the 2023 eMLS Cup Final in March, he edged out defending champion Atlanta United’s Paulo Neto in a two-leg aggregate (4-4, 5-2).
“I am so excited to be back with St. Louis CITY SC and defend the eMLS championship title,” said Raseck. “I am eager to start the quest to bring home the trophy once again to St. Louis and the city’s amazing fans.”
Raseck’s re-signing comes ahead of Western Conference regular-season champion St. Louis CITY SC’s second season. The team hosts Houston Dynamo in Round One of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup on Tuesday, Feb. 20 before opening the 2024 MLS season with a match against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, Feb. 24 at CITYPARK.
