St Louis CITY2 (10-3-2, 33 points) returns home to CITYPARK for their first match up of the season against Los Angeles FC 2 (8-4-2, 27 points). The match will start at 6:00 p.m. CT on Saturday, July 6 and will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
CITY2 and LAFC2 will be facing off against each other for the first time this season. CITY2 has a 2-0-0 record against Los Angeles. In their last meeting, in 2023, CITY2 won 4-2 with Caden Glover scoring two goals and Joakim Nilsson and John Klein picking up goals as well. St Louis saw their five-game unbeaten streak end versus Whitecaps FC 2 last Sunday. During the month of June, CITY2 went 4-1 and made their way to the top of the MLS NEXT Pro standings.
On Sunday vs Whitecaps FC 2, Mykhi Joyner scored his seventh goal of the season with Ryan Becher earning his third assist of the season and his second consecutive assist. Joyner has scored all seven of his goals in the last ten games for CITY2. Carson Locker made his first start of the season and academy player Jackson Delkus made his CITY2 debut. Tyson Pearce will look to make his 10th start of the season after being announced as an MLS NEXT Pro All-Star on Tuesday.
St Louis has a 5-1-2 record at home. In their previous home match, CITY2 set the MLS NEXT Pro attendance record with over 10,000 fans attending the match.
LAFC2 will head into CITYPARK with a 2-2-2 away record this season. In June, LAFC2 went 2-2, most recently winning against Colorado Rapids 2. Los Angeles has scored 25 goals this season but has also conceded 24 goals. LAFC2’s offense is spearheaded by forward Adrian Wibowo who leads the team in goals with six. Additionally, goalkeeper David Ochoa has won eight games this season for the Black and Gold.
